DiveUK - Meet the Team and Our Story
Who Are We
DiveUK is more than just a dive centre—it’s a team of passionate, experienced divers dedicated to delivering the best scuba diving experiences in the UK. From PADI courses in Cornwall to guided dives and equipment retail, we’re a one-stop shop for all things diving.
How It All Started
The idea for DiveUK started with Dan, a former Royal Marine Commando and Royal Navy Clearance Diver, who wanted to create a dive centre that offered expert training, high-quality gear, and unforgettable underwater experiences.
What began as a small beach hut at Castle Beach quickly grew, and in 2024, DiveUK expanded into a fully equipped 1,300 sq. ft dive centre. With the addition of a custom-built shipping container training pool, DiveUK became one of the most unique dive centres in the UK.
But DiveUK is more than just one person—it’s a team of skilled instructors, divemasters and ocean enthusiasts who share a passion for diving and teaching.
Meet The Team

Dan – Founder & Lead Instructor, DiveUK
I was born and raised in Cornwall, and the ocean has been my playground for as long as I can remember. My passion for the water led me to a 12-year career in the Royal Navy—first as a Royal Marine Commando, then as a Mine Clearance Diver—where precision, resilience, and control were everything.
After years of operating in extreme underwater environments, I founded DiveUK to bring that same level of expertise to civilian divers. For me, diving isn’t just about exploration—it’s about mastering the skills to stay calm, capable, and confident in any situation.
When I’m not in the water, I’m with my wife and two sons—usually still by the sea. Staying fit and prepared is a way of life because when you dive, being ready makes all the difference.

Imo – DiveUK Manager, Dive Instructor & Ocean Advocate.
From childhood visits to Cornwall to making it home two and a half years ago, Imo has always been drawn to the ocean. With a Masters in Marine Environmental Management, she’s passionate about conservation—so don’t expect any baby shampoo for mask defogging!
After completing her Divemaster with Dive In (now DiveUK) and earning her Instructor certification in Spain, she spent last summer guiding dives and teaching in Falmouth. She’s even co-hosted a Blue Mind dive retreat in Malta, highlighting the ocean’s impact on mental well-being.
For Imo, diving is more than a sport—it’s a way to be fully present, letting go of life’s stresses with every breath.
When not underwater, she’s surfing, cold-water dipping, or road-tripping Cornwall in her self-converted van (now on van #2!). And if there’s a sunset? You’ll find her there.

Cruz – Technical Diving Instructor & Service Technician
Originally from California, Cruz began his underwater journey exploring the rugged coastline and vibrant kelp forests of his home state. His passion for scuba instruction took off over a decade ago in the Caribbean, and since then, he has travelled the world, honing his expertise in technical diving, professional development, and speciality courses.
With experience across multiple training agencies, dive centres, and environments, Cruz is a go-to resource for both students and staff. Whether he’s leading technical courses, blending gases in the workshop, or servicing equipment, his depth of knowledge is unmatched. And if you stop by the shop, you might just see him training his trusty assistant, Moose.
When he’s not underwater (or thinking about it), Cruz enjoys exploring the Cornish coast with his wife, Meg, and playing baseball for our local team.
