What is the PADI IDC?

The PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) is the training program that prepares you to become a certified PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor. It covers dive theory, teaching techniques, and practical training.

What experience do I need to start the IDC?

You must be at least 18 years old, hold a PADI Divemaster (or equivalent) certification, have at least 60 logged dives to start, and 100 dives by the end of the course. You also need a current EFR certification (within 24 months) and a recent medical clearance.

Do I need to take the Instructor Exam (IE) after the IDC?

Yes, after completing the IDC, you must pass the PADI Instructor Exam (IE), a standardized evaluation conducted by PADI examiners to assess your knowledge and teaching skills.

What can I teach after completing the IDC?
